Transform kitchen scraps into “gardener’s gold” right on your countertop with the help of subterranean friends.
During this family-friendly class, you will create a small vermicomposting bin that houses hundreds of hungry worms.
You will learn to…
- Maintain the bin so it is odorless and pest-free.
- Properly feed your friends and keep them happy.
- Harvest nutrient-rich compost and use it in your garden.
- Upgrade to a larger bin to create a zero-waste kitchen.
A handful of red wriggler worms will be provided for your new bin.
Children and their curiosity about worms are very welcome!
Taught by Fred Meyer with Backyard Abundance.
The class is held in Meeting Room B at the Robert A. Lee Community Recreation Center.
The fee for the class is $15.
Register at the Parks and Recreation website.
One bin will be provided for each family. For multiple bins, please increase the number of participants during registration.
Please register soon: the class is limited to 25 people and is likely to fill up fast.
