Sponsored by Barbara Schlachter and the Iowa City Climate Advocates
Climate change is affecting more and more people every year, and the Red Cross is struggling to keep up with the surge in humanitarian needs. This Earth Day, help us raise money to support the Red Cross in their recovery efforts and memorialize an Iowa City environmental leader.
The 4.1-mile run/walk (with a shorter 2-mile option) will take place April 22, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. in Lower City Park in Iowa City and end at the Terry Trueblood Recreation Area. The route follows the pedestrian path along the Iowa River, which should make a for a beautiful Earth Day experience. (View route and schedule.) The run will be a timed event, and prizes will be given for the winners of each age group. Kids 12 and under are free.
Proceeds from the run/walk will be donated to the American Red Cross’s Disaster Relief Fund. Registrants (over age 12) will receive a t-shirt.
