Sponsored by the North Liberty Community Pantry
Growing food doesn't have to take a lot of time or even space! Container gardening is an easy way to grow food without land. On Thursday, May 25th, the community is invited to Growing Together Garden for a free, hands-on Container Gardening Class.
“Container gardening allows anybody to grow food even if they don’t have access to land or are unsure about starting an in-ground garden,” explained Ilsa DeWald, Garden Coordinator at North Liberty Community Pantry. “This class provides an easy way to practice gardening skills with potentially delicious rewards.”
Each family or individual will be able to take home a tomato or pepper plant—container and all. Participants will be led through stations to prepare their container, plant a seedling, and receive plant care information.
The class will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at Growing Together Garden, on the west side of North Liberty Community Pantry (89 N. Jones Blvd.). Families are welcome to come anytime during the class and should allow 15 minutes to complete all stations. This event is free and open to all ages!
