Wilsons Orchard will hold its second annual Planting and Pruning Workshop from 9am to 1pm. The pruning part will take place from 9am to noon, followed by a one hour session on selecting and planting apple trees.  The pruning workshop is $20, the planting session is free.

The pruning workshop will begin in the barn with a primer on the whys and hows of pruning apple trees, which is one of the key ingredients to producing good apples.  Following that, we will head to the orchard for several hours of hands-on tree cutting.  You will need to dress warmly, and please bring along your own long handled pruning loppers.  We will prune a variety of trees, from large to small.

Following the pruning fun, we will move back to the barn and discuss selecting the right apple varieties and rootstocks as well as site preparation. We will be taking orders for trees at that time -- $25/each, which includes the tree and inclusion in a tree planting workshop which will take place when the trees are ready for planting in April.
