Applying for Scholarship

Though we try to keep the costs of our classes and workshops as low as possible, we realize that the cost is still out of reach of some budgets. Each year we offer scholarships to in-need residents.

If you are interested in receiving a full or partial scholarship to one of our classes or workshops, please complete the Backyard Abundance Scholarship Application. We accept applications on an ongoing basis. Applications are reviewed by committee.

We ask that scholarship recipients commit to volunteering 1-10 hours of service helping with community resiliency-building projects. This can include garden help, landscape design, writing articles, and pre-workshop set up. This can also include volunteering you are already doing for another organization. We will help you find these opportunities if needed.

Funding a Scholarship

Currently, all of our scholarships are made possible through generous donations from members in our community. If you would like to help an in-need person attend a Backyard Abundance class, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Backyard Abundance Scholarship Fund.

Weekend classes typically cost $125 or $145, but any amount is welcome.

Please indicate on the donation form or in the secure area of PayPal that your donation should go toward scholarships.
