About the Event
Join Backyard Abundance and certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide Emelia Sautter for a walk with the natural world. Experience Nature + Forest Therapy, also known as Forest Bathing, a sensory-focused practice that invites us to slow down and be present with self and the natural world around us.
Forest Therapy is a guided immersion in natural environments that promotes the well-being of people and the land. Research shows these numerous therapeutic benefits:
- Reduces stress, anxiety, depression, anger and pain.
- Improves cognitive functioning, sleep, mood and creativity
- Boosts the immune system, regulates blood pressure, improves relationships and increases feelings of gratitude.
THINGS TO BRING
Water bottle, good shoes for being outdoors, walking or hiking poll, insect repellant and anything else that might help you feel comfortable being outdoors.
DESIRED DRESS CODE
Dress for the weather and for being OUTDOORS for 2 hours! If it is chilly dress extra warm and bring a blanket, if it is wet or rainy wear clothing to keep you warm and dry.
Sliding scale fee: $30 - $5, based upon your access to resources.
Harvest Preserve and Backyard Abundance members receive a 10% discount.
INVITE FRIENDS AND FAMILY
We need a minimum of 10 attendees to host the class. Please invite friends and family to ensure the event happens as scheduled. We would love to meet your loved ones.
Emelia Sautter is a certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide. She is the foundress of Good Medicine, Nature and Forest Therapy Practice in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The event is held outside. Masks are optional. We will try to maintain 6' distancing.

Abundance of Resources
This fee is for people with expendable income. This option allows you to assist others in attending our classes by “paying it forward” for those who have less access to opportunities.$30.00
This fee is for people who have the resources they need to make ends meet and can attend our classes at full cost.$25.00
Reduced Access to Resources
This fee is for people who are working hard to make ends meet on low wages and have less access to resources and opportunities.$15.00
This option is for people who have low access to resources. Examples include those with income below the poverty line, people living with mental and physical health concerns, and people experiencing insecurity in basic needs attainment.$5.00
