About the Event
Experience the joy of painting the great outdoors. Whether you’re building on skills from the “Basics of Landscape Painting” class or starting fresh, this session offers hands-on practice in a supportive environment.
Any participant can submit oak-themed artwork or poetry to the "Iowa Oak Project" and receive a $20 stipend for their submission. More information will be provided during the class.
THINGS TO BRING
Basic watercolor and sketching supplies will be provided. Feel free to bring your own if you prefer. If you wish to have an outdoor painting easel, you must bring your own.
- Standard attire and sun protection for hands-on outdoor learning: hat, jeans, sunscreen.
- Required: Water for drinking and painting.
- Outdoor seating; e.g., lawn chair. Required if you want to paint without and easel.
REGISTRATION
Sliding scale fee: $15 - $5, based upon your access to resources.

EDUCATOR
Jacob Lesan, an artist from Coralville, Iowa, is renowned for his nature-inspired landscapes and plein air paintings. As an instructor, Jacob shares his expertise and passion, inspiring students to connect deeply with nature through art. He has a rich background in art and music from the University of Northern Iowa.
LOCATION
Harvest Preserve: 1645 N Scott Blvd, Iowa City. We'll gather in the pond house.
