Nov 05, 2022, 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Harvest Preserve, 1645 N Scott Blvd, Iowa City, IA 52245, USA

About the Event

We all know the familiar groovy and bright tie-dyes of the 1970s hippie esthetic.  Join us in re-creating these designs using environmentally friendly and 100% nature derived ingredients.  We will examine how to collect natural found items for your dye bath, learn about different knotting and folding techniques, and create our own dyed cloths using dyes ranging from golden harvest orange, jewel toned blue and coffee colored brown.

  • Warm gear for outdoor weather, preferrably clothing which can be stained
  • notebook and writing utensil for taking notes

Sliding scale fee: $40 - $0, based upon your access to resources.

Harvest Preserve and Backyard Abundance members receive a 10% discount.

We need a minimum of 10 attendees to host the class. Please invite friends and family to ensure the event happens as scheduled. We would love to meet your loved ones.

Annie Ventullo, is a folk crafter, mushroom hunter and lover of the woods.  When she isn't playing with forest-found items, she is a practicing ecotherapist and death doula.

The event is held outside. Masks are optional. We will try to maintain 6' distancing.

This class was developed in collaboration with many community partners using grant funding from the Johnson County Community Foundation and the Roy A. Hunt Foundation. It would not be possible without these sponsors and supporters. Please frequent these generous organizations to thank them for donations of time, materials and funds.
