About the Event
Enjoy an afternoon of wintery outdoor fun at Freeze Fest, a free event hosted by Iowa City Parks and Recreation. Snowshoeing, archery, s'mores, and much more will be available.
Backyard Abundance is offering hands-on fire-making fun using common Midwest plants and tools like flint-and-steel, bow drill, and ferro rod. Kids and adults are invited to join us around the warmth of the fire to re-ignite your slumbering ancestral skills.
It's part of our Earthmind program, which nurtures mental and environmental well-being through valuable outdoor skills that contribute to mitigating climate change.
View ancient fire-making techniques on our YouTube channel.
