Edible Classroom, 400-450 E Burlington St, Iowa City, IA 52240, USA

About the Event

Quality time with friends and family is often challenging in our rushed society. Making new friends can also be difficult despite all the technology that is purported to bring us closer. And the pandemic has only exacerbated the loneliness and isolation many already feel.

During this class, we will introduce ideas that bring your friends and family into the garden for fun, connection and bonding. Through hands-on, gardening activities, we will cover best practices for creating a new bed, planting seedlings, direct seeding, weeding and watering… all in collaboration with others. You may even meet a few new garden buddies.

You are invited no matter your level of gardening experience. All are welcome.

Yummy snacks generously provided by New Pioneer Co-op.

CAN YOU LEAVE A LITTLE EARLY?

We realize the class may be a little late in the day.  The first hour covers core concepts and the last half hour is hands-on practice. Please feel free to leave after the first hour if you need to get home.

  • Gloves and a hat (optional).
