About the Event
Explore the enchanting realm of fungi that can be found right in our own backyard.
Along a one-mile guided tour through Hickory Hill Park, you will learn the basics of mushroom biology, understand fungi's crucial role within ecosystems, and identify various species. We will discuss safe and ethical foraging as we explore key principles of the Honorable Harvest, Leave No Trace, animism and legality.
You are invited no matter your level of outdoor experience. All are welcome.

THINGS TO BRING
- Standard attire and sun protection for hands-on outdoor learning: closed-toe shoes, high socks, hat, jeans, sunscreen
- Water bottle
- Basket or bag to collect your discoveries
- A notebook and a pen/pencil for writing and drawing (optional)
REGISTRATION
Sliding scale fee: $25 - $5, based upon your access to resources.

EDUCATOR
Taught by Emmie Klever. Emmie holds a Wild-harvested Mushrooms Certification from Iowa State University and currently studies Anthropology and Sustainability at the University of Iowa. She discovered a love of foraging in her hometown of Iowa City three years ago.
LOCATION
Hickory Hill Park north entrance on Conklin St. We'll gather in the shelter.
